Play on Ubuntu! (SFDUbuntuInstaller v1.0)

Post by Ariq Haqq » Wed Nov 23, 2016 6:38 am

Its finally done guys!
SFDUbuntuInstaller v1.0!
Image

The way that I have structured this, that you just go down the list! Hopefully making it easier to install SFD! Please note that this is still v1.0 and that any bugs that come up please comment here! Or just email me at ten.to.infinity@gmail.com

Now to get this script http://termbin.com/w0m9!
First you want to create a file called:

Code: Select all

SFD.sh
Image

And then simply copy paste the code to that file!
Image

Now open the terminal and go to the directory where you downloaded the script and type:

Code: Select all

bash SFD.sh
Image

And then run it! And Hopefully it will work!
And Gurt or Hjarpe... I believe that this script has the credibility to be on the page for when you install the game! I hope you can add the option to add it!

Is it better to be feared or respected... please, is it too much to ask for both?

Short Answer:
Uhh... No.

Long Answer:
Ubuntu is a Linux based operating system. It is one of the many distros that use Linux. So you know how there is Windows, it uses the Windows OS (OMG!). However Ubuntu uses Linux. Now there are many different distros that have there own unique purpose... Naming a few at the top of my head, would be Fedora, Arch, Gentoo, Manjaroo, Red Hat, Mint... And there is a lot more! The main difference is that Linux is open-source (Wait a minute...), meaning that anybody can use it quite ease and make programs very easy... Also you can't run Windows Programs on Linux (Directly at least), and Linux Programs on Windows (Directly at least)! I hope it explains it... *Sigh* I wish people actually knew about us few more...

He's probably talking about the other 3 threads you've created about this very same topic, which were deleted/merged/unpinned since then. No big deal, that's behind us.

The link is outdated can you please re-upload the script

EDIT: I just found a program called Wine that runs exe files should I use your installer or run the Windows installer through Wine (I'm pretty sure it's gonna be buggy but it won't rekt my PC so why not)

yo I'm confused I launched the installer through WINE and then after it finished installing the game it opened the .NET thing you know the problem is it blocked me and I expected that cause I'm in Ubuntu anyways I closed it then the other windows pops and I installed them and I had no problem with that but the thing would the game still launch without the .NET core

EDIT: I know it won't work but I asked to get an answer on how to get the .NET core on Linux OS and actually Microsoft has one and for Ubuntu I'm gonna try it and post if it works

Yep it doesn't works, I tried to launch the game and I got nothing not even an error message

EDIT: I think I'm going in circles here idk why, Anyway I went Installed the .NET core from Microsoft and the game didn't work, So I went to WINE website again and found this I installed it after all the time it took it said that it was installed but something called neng.exe I think and I'm pretty sure I'm wrong is missing, Then the .NET window pops saying that higher version is already been installed at that moment I realized that I might made a mistake, I really don't know anything in Linux so I would understand if you got confused on what I'm saying

Install all dependices from Winetricks (https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks) Before you even install SFD itself install of the .NET the Microsoft distributable, the directx stuff. THEN install SFD. Winetricks ensures that it is being installed correctly in the Linux system.

Also if you got discord, message me at Hacksaurus_Babu#4491

For anyone asking what happened to the future of SFD on Ubuntu?
the game did run actually with no flaws affecting the gameplay but I don't think anyone would post a script for that so you need to figure this by yourself it's easy

Because nobody plays on Linux sane ppl play on Windows... And if you have to use multiple commands to install one game... Then it's not really easy, From an installation standpoint.
