Getting up when pumping shotgun in cover

When you reload a pump-action shotgun, you can stop reloading by pressing A, which is very useful. But if you quickly tap A while reloading in cover, your character will stand up from the cover and expose himself to getting shot.

well why don't you just roll back into cover, this seems rather negligible

Eh. This shouldn’t really be happening. Sure you can just roll into cover but I doubt this is intended. I have never actually seen this happen, so I will have to test when I have the chance.
