the player can avoid jumpkick cooldowns seemingly at random and recreating this took forever

I THINK you mean avoiding crouching after a jumpkick (not avoiding jumpkick cooldowns?).
Possibly already solved after Pre-Alpha 1.8.8.
I noticed something very similar when solving this one

Notice how you sometimes enter manual aim instantly without crouching after dropping from the top platform.
So possible duplicate of
