Bots as users

When I log in I'm always curious about why on the connected users it says that there's some users or bots called such as "Google [Bot]" or "Magestic12 [Bot]"

I use my phone to log in the forums most of the time, I think that just appears when someone browse here with the phone

A user can't make a public post without their first post on the forum being approved by an admin like Klipeh or I. Therefore, it's completely possible for there to be plenty of bots on the forum that just haven't posted yet. We don't ban accounts until they've shown themselves to be bots.

That's not what I said. All users must have their first post approved by an admin. Once the first post is approved, you can post freely without us admins approving each individual post.

Bots usually make an account and spam the forum with advertisements. The general public doesn't see these posts because they're hidden from everyone except admins and moderators, who can then choose to approve or disapprove the posts. Obviously, we disapprove these posts and then ban the bot. Some bots never make posts and as a result do nothing.

An account is not a bot until they do some generic bot thing - aka posting advertisements on the website.

It could also be web crawlers if the bots don't spam advertisement.
