About 4 years ago I realized I was sick of all the unoriginal usernames I kept creating, and decided that I need a good, consistent,
original nickname I could use in my games from that point on. At the time I was really crazy about a band (trio) called
Klaypex; not only did I love their music, I thought their name was insanely cool. It looked good, saying it out loud sounded good, it was short but original, and I wanted something similar.
Why did I like that specific combination of letters? Well, first of all, it starts with a 'K'. And 'K' is a dope letter, and I want it. I want my nick to start with a 'K' too. But not just random letters after the 'K' - a word, misspelled delibaretily. After all, what's "Klaypex"? "Clay", written with a 'K', and a neat little suffix that gives the word such an awesome
explosive sound when said out loud. What word will I use?
"Click"? Too long. "Claw"? Don't really like the sound of that. "Clip"... hmm... "klip"? Yeah, that's starting to look like something viable. But there needs to be some sweet suffix that gives the same explosive "EX" feeling. "Klipex" sounds... weird. Besides, that's copying, and I'm trying to be somewhat original here. "Klipat"? Bah. "Klipin"? Disgusting. "Kliper"? Eh.
...eh? "Klipeh"? Sounds okay said out loud, yeah. "Kli-pèy". I like it. But looks like shit written down. There needs to be more... symmetry. Capital letters could probably achieve that effect, right? Let's see.
'K' is calitalized because every name starts with a capital letter. 'L' and 'I' aren't calitalized so you could differentiate between them. 'P'... could be capitalized because it's in the middle right there. Because that'll look decent, yes? No need to capitalize the 'E' then. 'H' ends the name so for symmetry's sake, i'll capitalize it too. What did I get?
"KliPeH".
Looks good. Symmetric. Sounds just like I want it to.
Perfect.
