Perhaps allowing the host to specify a custom player number in the settings of the dedicated server software could be a good idea? I wouldn't necessarily want to give the option of a 32-player game inside the actual game, but if someone who kind of knows what they're doing sets it...

Play with 12 players and no more would be good. That could play on the big official map as Fairgrounds who is a big map and it's the map who is less play

If your server can hold more than 8 players without lag or flooding the chat window with spam then sure, why not !
the only problem that this would make us need more than 4 different teams in case you want to make everyone pair up fairly in a distinct team (2 vs 2 vs 2 vs...), a fifth or sixth team would be cool !

The plan is to allow up to 16 players when using the dedicated server software but we will still limit it to 4 teams to begin with. The first version of the dedicated server software will probably still only allow up to 8 players as we need to tinker with the GUI stuff in-game when we increase the number of total slots.

On small maps even 8 players are enought I thing there shouldent be more than 12 players.

In case of more players, we will really need a change to the sounds! Far fighters should sound like they are far. This is a (questioned) planned feature.
