These objects weight enough to stop barrels and crates from being kicked over properly.

The small objects are fine as they are. I can’t comprehend a situation where a small stack of papers will hinder my gameplay in any way

It can stop you from kicking over some objects onto your enemies under you, and it can make you unable to move your cover as you want at first.
Another use is to be able to kick the object away from an enemy trying to use it to combo you.
