WHY NOT?

There are few reasons to make weight system for SFD:
1)Runners. Runners like to use run and gun tactics which is A LITTLE BIT op in this game ( yes, this diving chance update made the deal too ). So why not to make life of runners little bit harder? Like you did to campers with that fire update.
2)Mythologic. You can't run like jaguar during mating period with bazooka or m60. That's simple. Also you can't run so fast if you have katana or magnum, because this weapons are heavy ( also they do more damage as well ).
3)Balance. This idea will perfectly fit in current SFD state.
4)Resource. Resource for future innovations and updates. Shields? Armour? Cleptomania?! Everything is possible!
5)Gun Physics. Drop weapons without ammo on the ground or even on shattered concrete to break it ( but gun's weight need to be very big, like bazooka's one ). I imagine myself gun physics like propane barrels or buckets( player can't actually ''feel them'' ) but much more heavier. And yes, devs, that is how you can realise that dual weld weapon system!!!
And much, MUCH more...

One thing I wanted to note was that we're not supposed to write "I agree" in the comment section. The liking system was recently put in place to prevent this.
Something else that I found interesting is that it is indeed possible to give weight to dropped weapons, although by default, they all have the same weight. What you're talking about goes a good deal further than this, though. It doesn't seem to be possible to make the player run slower when they have a heavier weapon as it stands currently.

I support either giving differing stamina drain/regen speeds depending on weapon held/weapons in inventory, but decreasing player movement speed would detract from SFD as a game. This is a change that, as far as I call tell, just won't happen.

I still hope we get stamina changes, though. It really would help balance out the game.

You could add a weight to the character, depending on how many items the player is carrying, he could be slower than a player with no inventory items, and if he jumps from a high place with many items, he would have to lose more life Than a normal player with no inventory items.

Great suggestions, brings in some good tactical decision making into the game, and just to add to your idea, since he is turn heavier, the character uses more energy while punching, running etc.

I don't believe this would fit the game's style. It's not a tactical SWAT game but more like a retro shooter with some added mechanics.

That said this is 100% possible to do with community made scripts. You could see this in the game without Gurt having to add it in and all thanks to the new update!
